What we keep.
Not much. Enough to know whether anyone is playing, and how far down they get.
What we count
When you visit fliinch.com or play one of our games (in your browser, on itch.io or in the Windows app), we count the visit:
- which page or game, when, and for how long it stays open;
- in a game: how many runs, how far you got, what caught you, and whether you made it out;
- in HOLD YOUR BREATH: whether you chose to play with the microphone (never any sound, and never how loud you were);
- the kind of device, system and browser, and your screen size and language;
- the page that sent you here, if another site did, and any campaign tags on the link;
- roughly where you are — city, region, country and postal area — worked out from your internet connection;
- clicks on Play, Download and Buy.
A random number kept in your browser's storage tells a returning visitor from a new one. Clearing this site's data resets it.
What we don't
- No names, email addresses or accounts — we never ask for them.
- No exact location. We never ask for your GPS, and we don't keep your IP address.
- No advertising, no tracking you across other sites, and we don't sell or share any of it.
The microphone (HOLD YOUR BREATH)
HOLD YOUR BREATH can use your microphone, but only if you choose to and your browser asks you first. The game measures how loud your room is, a moment at a time, on your own device, so that the monsters can hear you. No sound is ever recorded, kept or sent anywhere, and neither is how loud it was. You can play without a microphone: they still hear your footsteps, your breathing and the doors.
Who sees it
Only Fliinch. It's stored with our database host (Supabase) and passes through our web host (Netlify). Our public pages, their fonts and scripts, and the games are all served from fliinch.com itself: nothing on them loads from third-party services. If you buy or download a game on itch.io, itch.io's own privacy policy covers that.
Opting out
Browsers that send the Global Privacy Control signal aren't counted at all. You can also ask us to delete what we hold about your browser through our page at fliinch.itch.io.
